From the black-and-red Harlequin costume of her initial B: TAS and comics run, through her countless comic book and video game reincarnations, and the “Daddy’s Lil’ Monster” tee that took Halloween 2016 by storm, Harley Quinn’s look has been evolving since the moment Paul Dini and Bruce Timm unleashed the chaotically charismatic character on the world. Her outfit consists of a torn up white shirt, with revealing hot pants, and a jacket that says “Daddy’s lil’ Monster” on the back. Harley’s new outfit feels like a perfect visual match for the story that this new series aims to tell. We always wanted to create something that felt like Harley made it herself, so she’s sort of a crafty person in the backroom and she can make stuff herself — you know the shorts that she’s painted and the jacket that she’s put together herself. Harley Quinn is athletic, agile and unpredictable, willing to take extreme measures to put a smile on her puddin’s face and help him achieve his crime goals.
Take ideas from it. We started with those characters and all their looks and I was able to kind of see what had been done over the different versions of the comics over the years. Kara Zor-L, or Karen Starr, is a Kryptonian just like Supergirl, but from another parallel universe (the world of DC Comics has plenty of such characters cross over from reality to reality and back again on a regular basis). You’ll look all tatted up just like Harley herself once you slip on this pair of officially licensed Harley Quinn tights. He has a custom logo stamped on his handkerchiefs, birds of prey harley quinn outfit his initials emblazoned on his jacket’s lining and wears a pair of pajamas stamped with McGregor’s face on a repeated pattern. With Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, the character is being reborn once again with Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie reprising the role. It’s a great snapshot of one of the greatest friendships in DC Comics and now, officially, girls harley quinn costume romances.
It’s great for cosplays. The trickiest part of the project is making an artificial pumpkin that you can wear over your head and see. Makes people look twice to see who it is wearing this Sexy Costume. Burbank, California, where I joined a group of journalists for a display of her new costume creations and a quick chat with Benach herself, and the costume designer took some time to break down some of Harley’s new standout looks, as well as her designs for the rest of the Birds of Prey.

Sadly, the full Forky costumes available on Amazon only come in children’s sizes – so adults (even those who are still kids at heart) will have to opt for a Forky-inspired T-shirt instead. Again she’s not that big since she still a puppy so she was able to fit into it, this year. She’s got this really soulful quality about her and I think we were trying to show that in the costume that she was strong and soulful at the same time, as well as unique. In general, she’s very inspired by the 70s and the streetwear of that era.
