Enjoy an elk hunting adventure in the wilderness north of Yellowstone Park. We are located 24 miles north of Yellowstone Park in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness Area. Our permitted land access encompasses over 100 square miles of national forest. During the early spring and summer months - June through September - we provide quality Montana ranch vacation experiences for families who wish to fish, hike, explore by jeep, horseback ride, and generally soak up the Big Sky. Come fall, we extend our hospitality to elk and moose hunters.

With our lodge already at 6,400 feet and our Meat Rack Creek camp only 8 miles away in the high country (8,000 ft.), Hawley Mountain guests have the advantage of being in prime summer and early fall elk habitat. Here, a large portion of the Boulder drainage elk population begins the rut in September, providing the hunter the best opportunity to get a "good bull" with a bow.

Rifle Hunts are based out of the same camp, weather permitting with hunts also originating out of our ranch lodge where we offer the same type of hunts, but with more versatility and more country to hunt as the game moves. The lodging for either hunt may change depending on where the elk are at the time.

You will encounter mature bulls in challenging mountain terrain. These bulls grow up big in this area without antler restrictions. Your ability to walk off-trail in steep, rugged country will have an impact on your success. Experienced, knowledgeable guides will assist you on your hunt. We are a small family operation - my two adult sons and I usually do the guiding.

Let us provide the support of an outfitter and let you be the hunter. We provide the horses, lodging, meals, packing out your game, and our knowledge of the area and the elk in it. We will accompany you or scout another spot while you are hunting. In any event you will have 100% dedicated hard working effort from us.

For any of you lucky enough to get a Montana moose tag, we have an ideal moose hunting area for you.
